Network Cabinets — common questions

Can you tidy a cabinet without rewiring the whole site?
Often, yes. A re-patch, new panel and proper labelling can transform a cabinet without touching the fixed cabling behind it. That was a large part of the Saint Patrick Centre job.
Will the network be down while you work?
There is usually a short interruption while equipment is moved onto the new panel. It is planned into a window that suits the site, often before opening.
Wall-mounted or floor-standing?
It depends on port count, switch depth and where the cabling terminates. Both are specified after seeing the space rather than picked in advance.
Do we need a UPS?
It is worth it where a short power blip would knock out card payments or cameras. It is quoted as an option rather than assumed.
