Who guest wi-fi is for

Bars, restaurants, hotels, cafés, salons and shops where customers expect Wi-Fi, and where the same connection is also carrying card payments, EPOS and cameras. Guest Wi-Fi is usually installed alongside business Wi-Fi rather than on its own.

Guest Wi-Fi — common questions

Can guests reach our tills or cameras?
Not when guest traffic sits on its own VLAN. At Mulholland's in Castlewellan, CCTV, EPOS and guest Wi-Fi were split onto separate virtual networks so customer devices cannot reach business systems.
Will guest use slow down card payments?
It can on a flat network. With segmentation and fair-use limits, guest traffic is capped so payment devices keep priority.
Do we need a login page?
Only if you want one. A captive portal with your terms is available, but many venues prefer a simple guest password that is easy for staff to give out.
Does guest Wi-Fi reach the beer garden?
Only with outdoor access points designed for it. Indoor units rarely reach usable levels outside — see the outdoor Wi-Fi page.
