CCTV Connectivity — common questions

Do you supply the cameras or just the network?
Both are possible. JKL Electrix installs complete IP CCTV systems — cameras, recorder, cabling and remote access — and also works alongside an existing camera supplier where the equipment is already chosen.
Will the cables be visible outside?
Not if there is a route. On the Newcastle install, cable was concealed through existing downpipes, soffits and internal runs so nothing shows on the walls.
Does recording depend on the internet?
No. Recording is local to the on-site NVR, so footage keeps being captured even if the broadband drops. The internet is only needed for viewing remotely.
Why put CCTV on its own VLAN?
Cameras generate constant traffic. On their own VLAN they cannot slow down card terminals, tills or guest Wi-Fi, and those systems cannot reach the recorder either.
Can I view the cameras on my phone?
Yes — the mobile app is configured and tested from an off-site connection before the job is signed off, so it is proven to work away from the property.
