Broadband & Fibre — common questions
- We upgraded the line and nothing changed. Why?
- Because the line is only the first link. At Mulholland's in Castlewellan the site was capped around 30 Mbps on a flat ISP default setup; after the switching and network were rebuilt it ran at 300 Mbps on the same building.
- Should we replace the ISP router?
- Only when it is the limiting factor. That is decided from measurements, not on principle — sometimes the supplied router is fine and the problem is further down the chain.
- Do you sell broadband?
- No. JKL Electrix is not a broadband reseller, so advice on providers and products is impartial and based on what improves your site.
- What if our line genuinely is too slow?
- Then that is said plainly, with the figures to show it, along with the realistic options — including 4G or 5G backup for sites with poor fixed-line service.
