Quinn's Bar, Newcastle — full-building Wi-Fi for tap-to-pay
A busy multi-bar complex where over 70% of transactions now go through tap-to-pay. Patchy coverage was putting card payments at risk during service.
The problem
Card terminals and staff devices kept dropping at the bar during service. On a busy Saturday, that meant queues and abandoned rounds. Consumer-grade routers had been added piecemeal, so coverage was uneven and no single system was in charge.
What I did
- Full on-site Wi-Fi survey with signal and interference readings across every bar and back-of-house area.
- Mapped five distinct dead spots and produced a written spec before quoting.
- Installed five enterprise access points on a single managed SSID.
- Configured guest, staff and payment SSIDs with proper VLAN segmentation.
The result
Even, measured coverage front to back. Card terminals stay connected during peak service, staff devices roam cleanly between areas, and guest Wi-Fi is isolated from payment traffic.
